Ambience Healthcare sells an ambient AI platform for health systems that goes beyond note-taking into coding and clinical documentation integrity. Founded in 2020 in San Francisco by Mike Ng and Nikhil Buduma, it covers more than 100 ambulatory subspecialties plus emergency and inpatient settings, embedding real-time ICD-10 and E/M coding support and a compliance engine directly in clinicians' Epic, Oracle Cerner, and athenahealth workflows. The pitch to CFOs is that documentation and revenue capture are one problem, not two.
The company raised a $243M Series C in July 2025 co-led by Oak HC/FT and Andreessen Horowitz at a $1.25B valuation, bringing total funding past $340M, with the OpenAI Startup Fund, Kleiner Perkins, and Optum Ventures also on the cap table. It is the clearest number two to Abridge in the enterprise segment, differentiating on coding depth rather than documentation alone.
